As one of the most iconic medieval cities of Tuscany and a UNESCO heritage site since 1990, San Gimignano is known as the Manhattan of the Middle Ages thanks to the 72 towers (now 13) that characterized the skyline in its period of greatest splendor.
A visit to the Cathedral, to the Palazzo Comunale with its Civic Museum and Art Gallery, the Torre del Podestà (the highest tower in San Gimignano), Piazza della Cisterna and the numerous churches are all a must.
